Wilted Lettuce
Look we turned it into a real, written "recipe." Grandpa Helf used to sop his bread in the bowl to get the remaining dressing.
Ingredients
- 1/4 lb. bacon, diced
- 1/4 cup oil (bacon grease)
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. sugar, or to taste
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 head lettuce, torn
- Croutons
Directions
- Brown diced bacon. Remove bacon to paper towels. Drain, reserving drippings to a measuring cup. Add oil to make 1/4 cup.
- Heat with vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper to taste.
- Pour hot dressing over lettuce. Add croutons and bacon.
- Serve immediately.
