Spicy Creamy Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 large red onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 2 (14 oz) cans diced tomatoes
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp white sugar
- 1 Tbsp chopped fresh basil
- 1 red chile pepper, seeded and minced
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 2/3 cup mascarpone cheese
Directions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook and stir until translucent and soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook and stir for 1 more minute.
- Stir in tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, and sugar, and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the basil, red chile pepper, salt, and black pepper, and cook for 10 minutes more. Remove from heat, and stir in the mascarpone cheese.
