Beef Stroganoff

Easy meal for Mom, major meal for Beth.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. round steak (1/4 - 1/2 inch thick)
  • 3 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 (3-oz.) can mushrooms (do not drain)
  • 1 package onion soup mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp. flour

Directions

  1. Cut meat across grain in strips. Brown quickly in hot shortening.
  2. Add water, mushrooms, and soup mix.
  3. Heat to boiling (or longer to simmer meat).
  4. Blend in sour cream and flour. Cook and stir till thickened.
  5. Serve over hot rice or noodles.
