Snickerdoodles
A home economics class favorite.
Ingredients
- 1 cup soft shortening
- 1-1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2-3/4 cup flour
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Topping
- 3 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
Directions
- Thoroughly mix shortening, sugar, and eggs.
- Sift together and stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Chill dough.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon for topping. Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts and then roll in topping mixture.
- Place dough about 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 400° for 8-10 minutes until lightly brown but still soft.
