Ginger Snaps
Found at Lovely Little Kitchen, this classic cookie recipe is one of Vicki's favorites and is perfect for the holiday season too.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- additional 1/2 cup sugar for rolling (using half coarse sparkling sugar make them looks pretty)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a baking sheet or place a sheet of parchment paper over it.
- Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, molasses, and mix.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until well mixed and dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-1/2 Tbsp balls, roll dough ball in sugar, and space out on baking sheet. These spread out quite a bit while baking, so try to limit it to about 12 cookies per sheet.
- Bake 11-13 minutes. Allow to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transfering to cooling rack.
