Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Golden brown butter brings warm caramel depth to these chocolate chip cookies, with delicate crisp edges, soft centers, melty chocolate, and a whisper of flaky salt.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar (200g)
  • 2/3 cup sugar (135g)
  • 2 eggs at room temp
  • 1-1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2-3/4 cup flour (340g)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 10oz chocolate chips
  • Flaky salt, to taste

Directions

  1. Brown butter and set aside until cooled to room temperature.
  2. Once cooled, add sugars and mix well. Add eggs and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture. Then fold in chocolate chips. Chill for 30 mins.
  5. Once cooled, roll into balls (about 2Tbsp in size) and place about 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle with flaky salt.
