Mrs. Oswald made it special for "Bobby's" birthday.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1-1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp. Karo syrup (light)
  • Dash of salt
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, milk, Karo syrup, and salt. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until it forms a firm ball in cold water (322° on the candy thermometer).
  2. Remove from heat. Add butter and cool to lukewarm.
  3. Add vanilla. Beat until thick.
  4. Pour in 8x8 inch buttered pan.
