Caramel Butter Icing

Dick's favorite spice cake frosting. Be careful when icing or you'll tear the cake apart.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 2-1/2 cup confectioner's sugar

Directions

  1. Melt butter in saucepan over low heat.
  2. Add brown sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Cool to lukewarm. Add milk and sugar a little at a time.
  4. Beat until icing is of spreading consistency.
