Gee's - A brunch favorite

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour, divided
  • 1/2 cup margarine, divided
  • 1 cup water + 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 3 eggs

Icing

  • 1-2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1-1/2 to 3 Tbsp. milk
  • Maraschino cherries

Directions

  1. Mix together 1 cup flour, 1 cup margarine, and 2 Tbsp. water. Work like pie dough. Divide in two. Spread in rectangular pans.
  2. Bring remaining water and margarine to a boil. Add almond extract.
  3. Remove from heat. Add remaining flour. Beat until smooth.
  4. Add eggs 1 at a time. Spread half of mixture on each piece of dough.
  5. Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes.

Icing

  1. Stir together powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk to spread easily.
  2. Garnish pastry with icing and drained maraschino cherries.
