Danish Pastry
Gee's - A brunch favorite
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour, divided
- 1/2 cup margarine, divided
- 1 cup water + 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 3 eggs
Icing
- 1-2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1-1/2 to 3 Tbsp. milk
- Maraschino cherries
Directions
- Mix together 1 cup flour, 1 cup margarine, and 2 Tbsp. water. Work like pie dough. Divide in two. Spread in rectangular pans.
- Bring remaining water and margarine to a boil. Add almond extract.
- Remove from heat. Add remaining flour. Beat until smooth.
- Add eggs 1 at a time. Spread half of mixture on each piece of dough.
- Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes.
Icing
- Stir together powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk to spread easily.
- Garnish pastry with icing and drained maraschino cherries.
