Cheddar Gougeres

Found at Taste of Home, these cheesy little bites go fast.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup butter, cubed
  • 2-1/2 tsp. kosher salt, divided
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup minced fresh chives
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

Directions

  1. Bring water, butter, and 1/2 tsp salt to a boil.
  2. Add flour and stir until smooth ball forms. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time and beat until smooth and shiny.
  4. Add cheese, chives, and garlic and drop by tablespoon onto greased baking sheet 1in apart.
  5. Sprinkle with remaining salt and bake at 375° for 14-16 minutes, until golden brown.
